My home a/c stopped working right today. The condensor is coming on and the
Kiddo
blower is coming on but the air is not blowing hard out of the vents, and

for me but l noticed that the copper tube running into where the coil is
had ice around it. Is that normal or does that suggest that the coil looks
like that as well? If so can l just leave the a/c off for the night and let
it thaw?

As said above; you may be low on freon.. that can cause icing

problems.

To thaw them out fast, turn the AC off, & flip the blower switch to the on

chilled, melting the ice dam fast. It usually takes mine about 20
minutes to be done with.

After the water stops flowing out the condensate drain, you can turn ur AC
back on again.

I have to do this when it gets humid here, usually once a day. I have an
old unit that I can not afford to replace right now.

You also may need to have the system recharged with
paper mate
refrigerant. That also causes freezing because the evaporation cycle can

Most likely the system is working much too hard, especially
skittles
with having a dirty filter.

You made a good call, turn off the a/c unit, it should thaw by the time
you replace the filter. Then turn it back on. Things should be fine.
